The contractor will conduct contaminant analysis on samples from moose samples from the Northwest Territories as outlined in the federal Northern Contaminants Program funded project entitled “Cadmium and Selected Metals in NWT Moose” (proposal attached). In addition, the contractor will also conduct the same contaminant analysis on samples of Dall’s sheep and mountain goats from the Dehcho region of the NWT. Samples (kidney or muscle) from up to 117 animals will be homogenized, tested for moisture content, and analyzed for a suite of 34 elements using the inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy, and for total mercury using cold vapour atomic absorption spectroscopy. Samples (muscle) from up to 55 animals will be analyzed for stable isotopes (13C and 15N).
