The Department of Education, Culture and Employment is participating in the
national Historic Places Initiative. The Initiative is designed to foster
greater appreciation of Canadian historic places, to develop appropriate
measures to encourage their conservation, and to promote appropriate uses of
these sites.

As part of the NWT Historic Places Initiative 2007-08, the
Department is seeking proposals from communities and cultural organizations to
undertake historic place research, documentation, and conservation activities.
