The Government of the NWT (GNWT) departments of Environment and Natural
Resources (ENR) and Industry, Tourism, and Investment (ITI) are beginning a
project to conduct a requirements analysis of Informatics Services. Some of
these services are delivered in-house (IS/IM) and others are provided
externally through vendors (IS) and others GNWT support departments (IT). The
departments collectively contain over 500 personnel.

The GNWT is adopting an
IT Service Management (ITSM) approach to delivering its services and has
adopted (though not implemented) IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as a
framework for delivering service through best practices. We view understanding
service level requirements analysis (SLRA) and the resultant Service level
agreements (SLA) as an essential step in planning to meet the needs of the
business units within these two departments.
